Imitation of Christ
You ask me, Lord, to die to self,
And Father, I must confess,
The thought is foreign and scary,
But, how can I do any less?
Upon the cross You bore my sins
And died, my soul to save.
Eternal life with You is mine
Because of all You gave.
May I seek not man’s approval,
Nor strive for material wealth,
But find my riches in You alone
Lord, teach me to die to self …
To give my all, unendingly,
As a fragrant sacrifice,
Seeking only to glorify You
May my life imitate Christ.
