Letting Go and Letting God

It seems I have forgotten, ‘Lord
The person that I am …
The child of Yours I long to be
… Obeying Your commands.

I sought to fill my emptiness
With pleasures of the flesh,
But what the world can offer me
Will never give me rest.

To be all and only yours, Lord
Is what I truly seek.
But in my struggle to conform
I find I am so weak

Yet, even through my struggle, Lord
Your love has shown the way.
“Give up,” You gently urge me
“Give in to ME today.”

In prayer I kneel before you now
All struggling will cease,
As I lay my burdens at the cross
And trade them for Your peace.
